Diaphragm valve is a type of valve that uses a diaphragm as an opening and closing component to control fluid flow. Its installation and use are crucial for ensuring the normal operation of the valve and extending its service life. The following are the key points for installing and using diaphragm valves:
1、 Installation points
1. Pre installation inspection:
Confirm that the model, specifications, and design requirements of the diaphragm valve are consistent.
Check the appearance of the valve to ensure that there is no damage or rust, and that all components are intact and undamaged.
Clean the debris, dust, etc. inside and outside the valve to ensure cleanliness.
2. Installation location selection:
Choose a location that is convenient for operation and maintenance to install the diaphragm valve.
Avoid installation in harsh environments such as high vibration, high temperature, and high humidity.
If installed outdoors, protective measures should be taken, such as installing a protective shed to prevent the valve from being eroded by wind, rain, and direct sunlight, which can cause component aging.
3. Pipeline connection:
Ensure that the diameter of the pipeline matches the diameter of the valve when connected to the pipeline.
The bolts connecting the flanges should be tightened evenly to avoid deviation, which may result in poor sealing.
Ensure that the interior of the pipeline is clean and free of welding slag, rust, debris, etc., to prevent them from entering the valve, damaging the diaphragm, or affecting the normal operation of the valve.
4. Installation direction:
Strictly follow the flow direction indicated on the valve during installation, and do not install it in reverse.
Generally speaking, the flow direction of a diaphragm valve is from above the diaphragm to below. If the flow direction is incorrect, it may affect the sealing performance and operating force of the valve.
5. Installation operation:
The sling must not be tied to the handwheel or valve stem, and it is strictly prohibited to collide with other metals or hard objects to prevent damage to the parts and lining.
When installing the diaphragm valve onto the pipeline, ensure that the valve body is parallel and tightly fitted to the flange surface of the pipeline.
Tighten the valve body and pipeline flange with bolts to ensure a secure connection.
2、 Key points for use
1. Operating standards:
When operating manually, do not use auxiliary levers to open or close the valve, in order to avoid excessive torque and damage to the driving parts or sealing parts.
When operating a pneumatic diaphragm valve, the opening and closing actions should be carried out slowly to avoid water hammer caused by rapid opening and closing, which can cause impact on pipelines and valves.
2. Operation monitoring:
During the operation of the valve, it is necessary to closely observe the working status of the valve, including the valve opening, whether there is leakage, and whether the pneumatic actuator is normal.
If any abnormal sound, vibration, or leakage is found in the valve, it should be immediately stopped from use for inspection and maintenance.
3. Maintenance and upkeep:
Regularly inspect the diaphragm valve, with an inspection cycle of generally 3-6 months, mainly to check whether the diaphragm is worn, aged, or broken, whether the sealing components of the pneumatic actuator are leaking, and whether the connection parts of the valve are loose.
Regularly clean the dust and dirt on the surface of the valve. For the interior of the valve, it can be flushed regularly according to the cleanliness of the medium to prevent impurities from accumulating inside the valve.
Lubricate the moving parts of the pneumatic actuator with an appropriate amount of grease to reduce wear and ensure flexible valve operation.
4. Diaphragm replacement:
Replace the diaphragm in a timely manner based on its usage and service life. Generally, when the diaphragm shows obvious cracks, damage, or a decrease in sealing performance, it needs to be replaced.
When replacing the diaphragm, choose a diaphragm that matches the original valve model and strictly follow the operating procedures for replacement.
